Today is a special, "When God's Girls Say Yes" posting. Please welcome my sister-in-law, Rachel, to Casual Conversations. She has a big love-heart for God. She is passionate to reach all women and remind them they are loved and adored by God, their Heavenly Father. Rachel inspires me to lean into God more each day and continue to "fight the good fight" hand-in-hand with Him. I know she will inspire you with her healing story. Give a big "hello" to my sister. ~Love, Michele
Have you ever heard the phrase, "humble yourself or God will do it for you?" If you're anything like I was, this just seemed like a catchy phrase for a preacher to use to get an AMEN. Well, sisters, it's true!
At 34 years and 310 lbs, I overdosed on prescription pills and complete narcissism. I had known Jesus for 28 years, but selfishness and ignorance gave Satan a foothold that nearly took my life. In May 2015, God began deliverance by allowing my body to fold under the medication. God brought me to the brink of losing everything and gave me the opportunity to surrender it and gain it all back.
“For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel’s will save it.”
In retrospect, I see the beauty in God peeling me like an onion. I HAD to be brought back to a state of consciousness to understand the sin I had been living in. My physical body HAD to be surrendered as the temple it was created to be. I HAD to submit to the majesty of The Only Wise King. As I let go of me, layer by layer, I did loose my addictions as well as a LOT of weight. However, at the risk of sounding a little cliche’, I gained a testimony to the power of the Jesus IN us, THROUGH us, and FOR us.
“They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death” Revelation 12:11
During this journey, I would love to tell you that a literal light was shown down upon me as doves fluttered around me. I would love to tell you that I discovered a “formula” that would deliver every woman in FIVE EASY STEPS from addiction, but I can’t. What I can tell you is I learned to experience the comfort of our Lord right in the center of it though. I learned that there is joy in sadness and absolute victory over death when you CHOOSE to surrender to His design.
“For we walk by faith, not by sight.” 2 Corinthians 5:7
I also learned that my purpose in life is to speak boldly to women on what Satan is whispering into her ear to defeat her, and what God has already written in response to it. He wants us to know that there has been a call from Him placed on each one of us, and as women, we must rise up together to glorify Him above all else. The Holy Spirit has placed a passion deep inside of you. Now, surrender that passion, along with your life, and He will lead you to an abundance you could not have made up for yourself!! While you are waiting, though, dear precious sister, TESTIFY to His mighty goodness!!
“Come and see what the Lord has done” Psalm 46:8a
“I’ll never know the thrill of victory till I’m willing to lay down all my weapons of defense and earthly strategies of war. So I’m laying down my arms and running helplessly to yours.” Clay Crosse
