This week's Growth Challenge verse is Isaiah 41:10:
"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."
How this verse holds me up and encourages me...
Yesterday was the 15th anniversary of 911. The pictures, news footage and the place I was when I learned of the devastating attack on our country are forever stamped on my heart and mind. The travesty of September 11th still weighs heavy on my heart. I wept tears of sorrow yesterday, as I reflected back to that frightful day.
Isaiah 41:10 reminds us in all circumstances of life not to fear. God's strength will help us gather our sorrows, heartaches, and despair as He upholds us with His right hand.
We witnessed the courageous acts of so many selfless people during the 911 attacks. Each heroic person didn't allow fear to hold them back from saving others in the towers of NYC, on Flight 93 or in the Pentagon. God's strength lead each fearless person to march towards the valley of death to save others. They are a testiment to us all.
