This week's Growth Challenge verse is 1 Samuel 16:7 (The Message):
But God told Samuel, “Looks aren’t everything. Don’t be impressed with his looks and stature. I’ve already eliminated him. God judges persons differently than humans do. Men and women look at the face; God looks into the heart.”
How this verse speaks to and encourages me...
This verse reminds me of God's goodness, His heart, and what matters to Him. As human's, it is hard not to judge others actions or appearance at times. It is important as Christian's to examine our hearts when labels start forming in our minds and start flying out of our mouths. As my pastor says, "It isn't the heart of the matter; it is the matter of the heart.". Wise words to live by, especially when it comes to labels and how we see others. What is the matter of your heart?
